The Jenday Conure is a member of the Psittacidae family.This bird is commonly confused with its cousin the sun bird. The Jenday Conure is a very vibrantly colored bird Who has a green mainly yellow head, green wings and back, and may have a slight tint of blue on the tail.

The Jenday Conure is a very playful bird who enjoys playing with toys, chewing, and climbing. They are very noisy bird and will “talk” to you a lot. They are very funny to watch being a very comical bird. They are very social, tame birds witch make them a perfect pet.

These bird will eat a wide variety of foods. Their diet includes many fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds sprouts, as well as commercial bird foods. When the bird first arrives at your home you may find they will not eat for a few days. This is normal as they are adjusting to their new surroundings. The bird must be feed either when it runs out of food or when their food goes bad. You give your bird fresh water every day.

Jenday Conures need a very wide spacious cage, it should ten times the bird’s size head to tail. They should have a large perch which is where they spend most of their time when in the cage. They should have a bird bath that should be kept exceptionally clean. The floor should be lined with newspaper or pine shavings.The cage should be kept away from harmful drafts and fumes. To provide your bird with a sense of security you should cover the cage at night.


You should clean the cage weekly. You should scrub everything down with soap and water every year. The perch, dirty toys, water bowl, food bowl, and bath should be washed with disinfectant. The floor bedding should be replaced. This will keep the the bird and you healthy.

Just remember not to play with them to much because they need about ten hours of sleep every day.

Jenday Conures are very smart birds so they can do all sorts of trick like rolling over or bring objects to you. This requires a lot of training and attention.
